WFP Pledges Its Continual Assistance to Cambodian NCDM
Cambodia - The World Food Program
(WFP) will continue to assist the Kingdom’s National Committee for Disaster Management
(NCDM) and to closely work with its Royal Government on humanitarian
activities.
Mr. Gian Pietro Bordignon, newly-appointed
WFP Cambodia Country Director, made these remarks in a meeting with Mr. Nhim
Vanda, Cambodian Senior Minister and First vice-President of the NCDM, on
August 15, 2013.
In the meeting, Mr. Bordignon
said WFP is ready to assist victims of any eventual disaster in cooperation
with Cambodian government and development partners. WFP will continue the
consultative plan between NCDM and WFP such as organization of workshops to
educate relevant institutions, real rescue exercise, field visits and mutual
information exchange and so on in order to reduce risks caused by natural
disasters, he added.
Mr. Nhim Vanda said WFP had provided
assistance in various forms to Cambodia, particularly food stuff. The Royal
Government of Cambodia is also ready to help the disasters’ victims by setting
aside food, medicine, crops, etc., he stated.
