Cambodia-China Diplomatic Heads' Bilateral Meeting
Cambodia (Koker) - Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a bilateral talk with his Cambodian counterpart Hor Namhong at noon at the Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh yesterday.At a joint press conference held following the meeting Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong said Mr. Wang Yi's visit would further strengthen the bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and China. he accepted the Chinese foreign minister's invitations to attend the ASEAN-China Foreign Ministers' Meeting to be held in China at the end of this month in order to strengthen and expand ASEAN-China strategic partnership of cooperation, and the first meeting of China-Cambodia Inter-Governmental Coordination Committee scheduled to be held in November in China.
The Chinese foreign minister praised the long-lasting relationship between Cambodia and China, saying China is a good friend and good partner of Cambodia. While expressing congratulations to his Cambodian counterpart on the victory of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, Mr. Wang Yi said China hoped all parties of Cambodia would discuss to find solution to their election disputes peacefully so that a new National Assembly and new government would be formed quickly.
Mr. Wang Yi also expressed China's commitment to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefits of the two countries, and to continue to support Cambodia's socio-economic development.
Earlier on the same day, Mr. Wang Yi was received by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and met with leader of the royalist FUNCINPEC Party Princess Norodom Arun Rasmey. The Chinese foreign minister arrived in Phnom Penh on Tuesday night for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Cambodian foreign minister.
