Mr. Ith Sam Heng,
Cambodian Minister of social affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, has
issued a notification to the public, especially garment factory workers, labor
unions and factory owners not worry about demonstrations that may take place in
the post-election period.
In a statement dated 6
August 2013, the minister said in these last days there have been rumors about
social unrest, planned demonstrations and even a possible war, which have
caused concerns among workers, labor unions and employers of all factories and
the public.
Settlement of political
matter in the post election period always happens in every election in Cambodia
in the past as well as in other countries in the world, he said in the
statement.
“Finally, all concerned
parties always find a solution that brings about safety to the society,” he
underlined, adding that competent authorities are looking for those who have
spread the rumors.
He also called on the
public to remain calm and continue their daily businesses as usual and not to
believe the rumors.
