Suspected Murders of CNRP Activist Arrested
Cambodia – Two suspects who gunned down Mr. San Soeun in
Kampong Speu province on August 12 have been arrested according to authorities
in the province. The murder of the man claimed to be an activist of the
opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party was not politically motivated, the
authorities said on Wednesday.
Mr. Sann Soeung, 67, was shot dead at his house in Treng Troyoeung commune, Phnom Srouch district on the night of August 12. His wife, Pich Ann, said that he had been killed by two unknown gunmen after they had knocked on the door of their shop at around 8:00 p.m., asking to buy beer. Opposition officials immediately claimed the killing was politically motivated.
