NEC Opens Ballot Packages from Polling Stations in Siem Reap Constituency
Cambodia (Kohker) - This morning, the National Election Committee (NEC) opened "Safety Packages A", in which original polling data are kept, from 12 polling stations in Siem Reap Constituency for verification of the results of the July 28 general election.Representatives from the Constitutional Council, political parties that contested the election, local and international NGOs participated in the opening process held at around 8 O'clock at the order of the Constitutional Council, the final body that is in charge of resolving election complaints.
According to the Constitutional Council's resolution, the opening of the packages aimed at verifying the election results from 5 polling stations in Siem Reap town, including polling stations 0283, 0288 in Krabei Real commune; 0425, 0442 in Svay Dangkum commune; 0817 in Slar Kram commune; and 7 polling stations in Puok district such as 0323, 0324, 0326 in Reul commune; 0294, 0673, 0718 in Lavear commune; and 0346 in Trey Nhor commune.
On August 28, NEC opened the Safety Packages A in 8 polling stations in Battambang Constituency and on Aug 25, it opened Safety Packages A from 13 polling stations in Kratie Constituency.
According to a press released issued August 28, the Constitutional Council will open this Saturday a public hearing on complaints filed by the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) against the election results in Kratie Constituency.
The hearing will be held at Chamkar Mon State Hall in Chamkar Mon district, Phnom Penh, starting from 8:30 a.m, said the press release.
