CNRP leaders meet supporters in Phnom Penh
Cambodia: The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) held a get-together with its supporters at Phnom Penh's Freedom Park on the evening of 6 Auguest.The rally started at around 5:00 p.m. Several thousand of people including some Buddhist monks participated in it. In the meeting opposition leader Sam Rainsy repeated claims that the CNRP had won the July 28 general election, not the ruling CPP.
He said if his party was not acknowledged as the winner, he would lead a demonstration. "The CPP cannot hang on to power like before," he said. "In the past, they stole ballots but managed to cling to power, but absolutely not this time."
