Cambodia – Parts of the Kingdom’s three northern provinces – Preah Vihear, Banteay Meanchey and Kampong Thom - have been hit with flash floods, Mr. Nhim Vanda, First Vice-President of the country’s National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), told reporters
on August 15 following a meeting with Mr. Gian Pietro Bordignon, newly-appointed Country Director of World Food Program to Cambodia.

The floods had destroyed 200 to 300 hectares of corn crops and affected 2,000 hectares of paddy, he said, adding that 7,600 houses had also been damaged and about 600 meters of national roads had been under water.
Seven local people including 3 children were killed by the floods, the NCDM vice-president said.
