CNRP Prays for Victims of 1997 Grenade Attacks
Cambodia (Kohker) – This morning,
opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) held a religious ceremony to
pray to the souls of people who were killed in grenade attacks on March 30,
1997.
About 300 CNRP officials and
relatives of the victims attended the ceremony which was held in front of the stupa
for the victims located in a park across the street from the previous National
Assembly building in Phnom Penh.
On the occasion, CNRP leaders
called on the authorities to find and arrest the perpetrators, who toasted 4 grenades
on an opposition rally at the place 16 years ago that killed at least 16 people
and wounded more than 100 others, and send them to justice.
“Until now, the authorities have
not found the murderers yet,” CNRP President Sam Rainsy said, adding that the
CNRP still determines to find the murderers.
