King Appoints Hun Sen as Prime Minister for New Mandate
Cambodia (Kohker) - His Majesty
Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, has officially appointed Samdech Hun Sen,
vice-president of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), as Prime Minister for the
5th Mandate.
According to the King’s Royal Decree
dated 23rd September 2013, the newly appointed prime minister shall
have a duty to propose the new composition of the royal government to request a
vote of confidence from the National Assembly.
On the same day, Samdech Hun Sen
wrote to the King expressing his gratitude for the appointment based upon the
request of the CPP that won the July 28 general election.
In the letter, Samdech Hun Sen
also vowed to do his utmost to serve the nation and people toward prosperity.
He also stated that he would prepare the composition of the new government and
send it to request a vote of confidence from the National Assembly members who
will hold a session on 24 September 2013.
