CNRP Ends Its Three-Day Mass Protest
Cambodia (Kohker) - The CNRP’s three-day mass
demonstration held at Phnom Penh’s Freedom Park ended this evening. Before
announcing to close the mass protest, CNRP president Sam Rainsy and Vice
president Kem Sokha told their supporters that the CNRP would continue its political
talks with the CPP in order to demand what they want.
“We want a solution by peaceful
means and through negotiations,” the CNRP leaders said, vowing that the opposition
lawmakers would not attend the National Assembly’s first session and would
continue the mass demonstration until justice is found for voters.
The tense situation in Phnom Penh
capital has eased after Monday’s meeting. Barbed wire barricades set up by the
authorities to block some main streets were also removed on yesterday
afternoon.
