Labour Ministry Calls on Workers and Unions to Remain Calm
Cambodia (Kohker) – As the
opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) is going to hold a mass
demonstration on September 7 to protests the results of the recent general
election, Ministry of Labour and
Vocational Training has issued a statement calling upon all workers and union leaders to remain calm and continue their daily work as usual.
“The Ministry of Labour and
Vocational Training would like to appeal to organizations, trade unions,
workers, employees and employers to remain calm and to continue performing
their respective duties, and to avoid being deceived into joining demonstrations
that would disturb social orders and affect the living,” read the statement
dated September 4.
The Royal Government always pays
attention to the living condition of the workers and employees and has recently
established a joint working group to continue conducting a study on additional
increase of wages for them, the statement added.
