Chinese Nationals Nabbed in Phone Extortion
Cambodia (Kohker) - Cambodia authorities have arrested 43 Chinese nationals including 13 females in a raid on a location in Phnom Penh, which officials said was being used as a base for committing online extortion.Police force from the Department of Internal Security of the General Commissariat of National Police raided a house located in Sangkat Boeng Keng Kang III in Khan Tuol Kok where the Chinese nationals were staying to commit the extortion at around 11 O'clock this morning. One Chinese man was shot in the waist while trying to escape the police's surrounding. He was immediately sent to hospital.
Cambodia is being used as a base for the extortion rackets that mainly target rich business people in China. Many cases of this scam have been uncovered in recent years and hundreds of suspects, mainly Chinese and Taiwanese nationals, have been arrested and deported to China.
