Troye Sivan, X-Men Actor, Comes Out As Gay On YouTube (Video)
Troye Sivan has come out of the closet. The 18-year-old
actor is best known for playing the young James Howlett (aka Wolverine) in
X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He made the revelation via his YouTube account,
nearly half-million subscribers.
“This probably the most nervous I’ve ever been
in my entire life, but I’m going to deal with it,” he began.
Sivan explained,” On August 7, 2010, I told my family that I
am gay. And on August 7, 2013, I want you guys to know that I’m gay.” Sivan is the latest celebrity to come out as
gay. Recently, Ben Whishaw, Q in Skyfall, announced that he is not only gay,
but married. Raven-Symone of The Cosby Show fame also recently confirmed that
she is lesbian via a tweet about finally being able to get married.
At one time, it was considered to be career suicide if
people found out that you were gay, but in recent years, that has changed
dramatically with numerous openly lesbian, gay and bisexual stars with strong
careers. Fellow X-Men alum Ian McKellen is also openly gay, and has been since the
late 1980’s.
